Nationwide Building Society is the first financial service provider to receive triple recertification to Carbon Trust Standards for their carbon, water and waste metrics.

The Carbon Trust Standard is a certification that recognises organisations that make efforts to measure, manage and reduce their environmental impact. The Carbon Trust has six different certifications and Nationwide has achieved the standards for carbon emissions, water use and waste output.

In 2011, Nationwide set themselves targets of ensuring 2020/21 carbon emissions remained or were below 2011 levels, reduce water consumption by 10 percent by 2015, and achieve zero waste to landfill by 2015. The building society have met or exceeded all of these targets.

Recognised by the Carbon Trust

“Being recognised for our ongoing progress by the Carbon Trust is a fantastic achievement and I’m proud we have achieved it yet again,” comments Jenny Groves, divisional director for branch and workplace transformation at Nationwide. “This recognition is testament to the long-term commitment and progress we have made.”

The Carbon Trust recently launched the Green Business Fund, a scheme to help small businesses undertake energy efficiency upgrades. Eaton Electrical specialise in helping firms reduce energy costs and support the Government initiative.

We visit your premises to assess the potential for energy saving improvements and the most suitable equipment in an energy saving audit. If you are happy with the recommendations, we send the report to the Carbon Trust – installations then take place if the application is successful.
