IMServ – Cygnus House

IMServ was founded in 1992 as part of the electricity market deregulation in the UK. It originated as the sole electricity data collector, helping to establish the process of energy data collection and verification. It has since maintained its position as one of the UK’s leading data collection and energy metering experts. A decision was made to relocate the company’s headquarters to support their continued growth. Eaton was part of the team tasked to provide a modern, energy- efficient office space suitable for over 180 occupants.

Cat B fit out of Cygnus House. A two storey, modern building on the outskirts of Milton Keynes, comprising approx. 22,000sqft of office space.

Our team designed a suitable electrical installation utilising suspended floors and ceilings for cable ways. Underfloor power busbar and floor boxes were used to distribute power to desk positions. We included a modular plug and play lighting system with energy saving controls and efficient LED luminaires to illuminate office and communal spaces, in collaboration with the interior designer’s requirements.

Before work began on site, our engineers completed a comprehensive audit of the CAT-A installation. This highlighted several shortcomings that were rectified under this contract; including compliance issues with fire alarm systems and submetering. Eaton Electrical were proactive in highlighting these issues and working on the client’s behalf to negotiate appropriate recompense.

Installation work completed by our teams included containment systems, LV distribution, supplies to mechanical services including external condensers and chillers, lighting and emergency lighting, small power to desks, kitchenettes and WCs. Eaton was also responsible for the procurement and management of several specialist subcontract packages including fire detection, data network and DDA call systems and evacuation phones.

All work was completed on time and in line with the client’s budgetary constraints. Our team remained flexible throughout the installation phase, reworking designs to incorporate several client amendments.
