Major international companies have joined a green electricity alliance that aims to get 100% of electricity from renewable sources, in a bid to combat climate change.

green electricityCompanies including Goldman Sachs, Starbucks, Walmart, Nike, Marks & Spencer and Unilever have joined the green electricity campaign ‘RE100’, and promise to shift to renewable energies such as wind and solar power, in order to help slow climate change.

The campaign was initially launched last year, and 36 companies have now become members.

Each company sets their own goals for achieving 100% renewable energy, with Goldman Sachs aiming to become 100% renewable by 2020, whilst Johnson & Johnson’s goal date is 2050.
