A new report by has shown that confidence in the non-domestic energy efficiency market has reached an all-time high, with demand for energy saving measures from schools, offices and public buildings continuing to grow.
The Energy Efficiency Trends Report, collated by EEVS Insight and supported the UK Green Investment Bank and Bloomberg New Energy Finance, surveyed 26 energy efficiency equipment suppliers alongside 62 consumer organisations. The report showed that offices were the most likely to look for energy efficiency upgrades, with public buildings, schools, and universities also ranking highly for commissioning energy saving measures.
High energy efficiency lighting remained the most popular technology amongst both commercial and domestic property owners, whilst demand for boiler optimisation and refrigeration was also high.
The report comes after the International Energy Agency release figures showing that the global energy efficiency market is now worth £310bn per annum, and is anticipated to continue to grow.
Ian Jeffries, head of information services at EEVS Insight commented on the report, stating that: “At a time when the UK’s economic recovery is predicted to gather pace, it is pleasing to report that energy efficiency is making its own sustained contribution”
“Ostensibly a ‘spend to save’ investment proposition, energy efficiency is a great way to cut operational costs and boost productivity. Our latest market report shows that UK organisations are very much alive to this and are actively investing in order to drive long term efficiency savings and enhanced competitiveness.”
